State of web hosting through the passage of time

Back when the internet was still being called intranet and was local between only a computer or two mostly owned by governments, web page hosting began. It has come a long way since then. Back then, no concepts such as reseller hosting used to exist. It was purely a personal thing that multinational companies and corporations used to deploy to share information between their employees.
From then, web page hosting has come a long way. Concepts such as reseller hosting, collocation, dedicated servers, shared hosting have thus been born and actually established. Through this evolution and the passage of time, the industry has developed a lot. We have moved from rusty IBM servers to top of the rank Dell mounts and Xeon 5620s, adding a huge deal of performance over our traditional platforms. Thanks to that, technologies such as Xen, KVM, OpenVZ have become a reality and are now a driving force behind the industry. The new framework that’s empowering the industry now is named eCloud Hosting, and is most probably going to end up as the industry standard in an year or two.
